This year my husband and I are embarking on quite an adventure.
This year we are going to hike the pacific crest trail which takes us from Mexico to Canada which is 2660 miles in total. We start on April 7th, and aim to finish sometime in the last two weeks in September.
Memories
We are walking in memory of my dad, Ian Aitken, who passed away in February 2017. We are raising money for St Barnabas Hospice in worthing where my dad spent his last few weeks of his life. Have a read of our just giving page and feel free to sponsor us if you like.

We will have a video blog and blog on my website francescaaitken.com, and you will be able to view our progress through facebook, twitter, instagram and youtube.
We leave for America on 2nd April 2018. We will be back in the country on 1st October 2018.
We hope to have updates for you before we go, including our gear review, and our resupply strategy. When we have some signal along the trail we can post to social media sites.
Trail
The trail starts us off in the desert along the Mexican border near Campo, which is about 1 hour inland of San Diego. We hike over two mountains before reaching the Mojave desert, then enter the Sierras which we will spend about 2-3 weeks trekking through, also includes climbing Mount Whitney.
Northern California is full of beautiful lakes and terrain, we finish the trail hiking through Oregon and Washington, finishing in Manning’s Park, which is 8 miles over the border in Canada.
